Solution

ESET Remote Administrator Users: Perform these steps remotely

1. Download the ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Mac installer.

Uninstall any previously installed antivirus software

Running two antivirus products on the same computer can degrade performance and cause system instability. It is important that any previously installed antivirus software is uninstalled from your system before installing your ESET security product. Click here for a list of common Mac antivirus uninstallers.

2. When you have finished downloading the install package, it will appear in the Downloads folder. To begin installation, double-click the install package and then double-click the Install icon from the ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 Install Disk window. Click Continue to launch the Installation Wizard.
   
3. Click Open and then click Continue if you are prompted again.
   
4. Read the Introduction and then click Continue.

5. Read the Read Me page and then click Continue. If you would like to print or save the important information displayed on the Read Me page, click Print.. or Save.., respectively.
   
6. Carefully read through the Software License Agreement. To print or save the License Agreement, click Print.. or Save.., respectively. Click Continue and then click Agree when prompted to agree to the License Agreement. If you click Disagree, you will exit the installer and your installation of ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Mac will be incomplete.

7. Select the Installation Mode for your ESET security product. You can select either Typical or Custom installation modes. We recommend selecting Typical installation mode, as its pre-configured settings provide optimum performance with maximum protection. If you would like to configure your own settings select Custom installation mode. Click Continue to proceed.

8. On the next page, enter your ESET-provided Username and Password and click Continue.

Important!

Please enter your username and password exactly as they are written in your ESET registration email.

-The username is in the format EAV-99999999 and the hyphen is required. Both the username and password are case sensitive.

-If you are copying and pasting, make sure a blank character is not being included in the string.

-We do not use the letter L in passwords (use the number one (1) instead), a big 0 is the number zero (0), a little o is the letter o.

9. Set parameters for ThreatSense.Net Early Warning System reporting. The ThreatSense.Net Early Warning System submits new threats to ESET researchers and provides feedback that improves protection. Select the Enable ThreatSense.Net Early Warning System option to activate ThreatSense.Net reporting. Click Continue.
   
10. In the Detection of potentially unwanted applications window, select your preferred option (see What is a potentially unwanted application?) and click Next.
    
11. Read the installation details on the Installation Type page. Click Install to install your ESET security product. You will need to enter your Mac OS Name and Password. The ESET installer will prompt you to continue the installation after you have entered your administrator username and password. Click Continue.

12. Installation may take a few minutes to complete. The ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Mac icon will appear next to your system clock once installation is complete. Click the icon if you would like to open the main program window.

Peer certificates and Certification Authority that are created during the installation are by default contained in the Static Group All.

1. Open ESET Security Management Center Web Console (ESMC Web Console) in your web browser and log in.

2. Click Quick Links → Other Deployment Options.

3. Select Create Agent Live Installer; you can select Create Installer or Select Existing. In this example Create Installer option is selected.

4. Deselect the check box Participate in product improvement program if you do not agree to send crash reports and telemetry data to ESET. If the check box is left selected, telemetry data and crash reports will be sent to ESET. Click Configuration where you can change the Name for the Agent Live Installer, change Server Hostname (optional) and select Parent group where the computer will be contained after the installation (optional).

5. Click Finish.

6. Click Download under Agent Installer for Mac. Make note of the file's saved location.

7. Distribute the Live Installer file to your Apple client(s) using email, a shared network folder, or whatever means you choose. Download the file to the Desktop on your client(s).
   
8. After you have downloaded the file to the client(s), double-click ESMCAgentinstaller.tar.gz to extract the file. ESMCAgentinstaller.sh will be extracted to your Desktop.
   
9. Click Go → Utilities and then double-click Terminal to open a new Terminal window.

10. In your new Terminal window, enter the following commands:

    1. cd Desktop
       
    2. bash ESMCAgentinstaller.sh

Users of macOS Sierra and later need to use root access

If you are using macOS Sierra and later, run the command:

sudo bash ESMCAgentinstaller.sh

instead of:

bash ESMCAgentinstaller.sh

11. When you are prompted for your password, type the password for your user account. Though characters will not appear, your password will be entered. Press Return when you are finished to continue installation.
    
12. Click Go → Utilities and then double-click Activity Monitor. Click the Energy tab and locate the process called ESET Management Agent to verify that the Agent is running. You can now manage this client computer using ESET Security Management Center.

13. If you are performing a new installation of ESMC, proceed to Step 5, deploy ESET endpoint products to your client computers.
